Ilaria is eager to learn and a go-getter optimist who can see the strategic and political big picture while at the same time getting into the details to achieve the best implementation results. She is passionate about her work and sets clear goals and deadlines. Ilaria always mixed her love for academic research and policy analysis, creating an interesting and successful mix of skills that has strongly been valued by people she worked with.
Ilaria has over 15 years of international professional experience in academia and governmental organizations relating to the topic of economics; healthcare reform, policy, and performance; competition, regulation, and rationing; market monitoring; and funding of healthcare systems.
She was Assistant Professor for different universities in Switzerland and the Netherlands and Visiting Professor at McMaster University in Canada. She worked as senior economist at the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa) and the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB). She has strong project management skills, experience in procurement of services and project acquisitions developed while working as senior consultant for a private international company. She worked as a consultant for WHO Regional Office for Europe, Copenhagen, Denmark and is currently working on a project for the WHO Country Office in the Western Balkans.
She is experienced with Dutch and European projects and is often invited as (key) speaker at international conferences and events. Currently, she is a referee for different international scientific journals in economics and health policy. Recent consultant work to WHO, the European Commission, the European Parliament, Dutch Ministry of Health (VWS), and Dutch National Health Care Institute (Zorginstituut Nederland). Other current affiliations are lecturer at the Dutch Royal Actuarial Association and member of the referee pool of the Netherlands Organization for Health Research and Development (ZonMw).
